Tembisa’s poetry corner

This week's poem was contributed by Jan Kompressor - The Poet.

The Tembisan hosts the poetry corner to provide a platform for local poets to share their work with Tembisa residents.

This week’s poem was contributed by Jan Kompressor – The Poet.

The poem is titled, ‘Who am I?’

I walk blindly in my own thoughts trying to find myself

A journey filled with darkness, light far away from my reach

I pray every step I take not to trample

My quest filled with frustrations, no signs to follow

Who am I?

I ask myself daily

Where do I belong in this world full of people walking different paths and directions smiling

Where is my smile so I can put it on and feel alive

I walk like the dead with the feeling of not belonging

Where ever I go, I am invisible I can’t be noticed

No matter how loud I shout or scream my voice fades before their ears

I am lost in the forest of people surrounding me, blocking my view

Which direction do I take to finding myself?

Only if I could see a sign I can follow

Day and night my mind is a battlefield of thoughts, trying to discover who I am and where I belong

This is a silent battle only stopped by anger, frustrations and tiredness
