Business robbery suspects caught

The Ivory Park SAPS arrested four of five suspects aged between 28 and 42.

The suspects were arrested after allegedly committing a business robbery.

It is believed the men entered a spaza shop belonging to a foreign national in Ivory Park, Extension 2, on Tuesday evening.

They threatened the employees with firearms and took an undisclosed amount of cash and airtime.

“They allegedly fled the scene in a Toyota quantum. The driver of the Quantum was arrested during the early hours of the morning in the Kanana Informal Settlement, next to Rabie Ridge. Another suspect was arrested in Ivory Park, Extension 2, and the other two accomplices were caught in Alexandra,” said the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela.

W/O Sekgobela said one of the suspects had bought a Toyota Corolla shortly before he was arrested.

“The vehicle was taken to the Van Ryn Deep pound for further investigations. The suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery,” said W/O Sekgobela.
