AN outreach to an underprivileged community in Kempton Park will take place on July 16 at 9am on Great North Road at the intersection with Elgin Road in Pomona.
Under his Covering is hosting the event where soup and bread will be handed out, but needs help from whoever can donate something.
“How many people do you know who cannot afford a blanket, a meal, toilet paper, a bottle of water, a birthday toy or stationery for school?” Carike Pretorius of the organisation asked.
“Our first concern is the little children. We would like to bless them with something special this winter. We would like to give each child a shoebox filled with goodies, including a colouring book, crayons, chips, cold drink, water and treats. There are about 60 children and boxes to fill. We need 60 people to fill one box each,” she said.
Pretorius said they also challenge companies to raise as many funds as possible. “We would like to give each child a special warm Under his Covering blanket, water bottle and T-shirt. This is something that cannot be taken away from them and will leave them feeling special.”
Under his Covering also needs the following items: soup, bread or bread rolls, paper cups, funds for the T-shirts, blankets and water bottles.
Schools are challenged to donate canned food, toilet paper, blankets (old and new), used toys and used clothes for the underprivileged community.
