IF you are a part of the youth at your church, a pastor or youth leader and you have no idea how to celebrate Youth Day on June 16 this month, then look no further.
Luckily Youth Day is not only one day but it runs the whole month of June, so here is some examples of activities, games and events that you can plan for your youth group:
Baby sitting training course: This is a great way for the young ones to learn responsibility and get an extra skill to put on their resume or earn some extra money in their spare time. Get a few mothers to give some tips on how to look after a baby or toddler.
Movie night: Get the youngsters to bring along their blankets and any snacks of their choice and host a movie night of their choice. This is very interactive fun.
Youth Missions day trip: Take the children to a spot where they can interact with either less fortunate children or an old age home to spread a bit of youth among the smaller of youth and the older. They could make it a group effort to collect clothes or food or maybe bake cookies or cupcakes to hand out.
Talent show: Host a talent show for every child to show his/her special talent to the group. This is a confidence booster activity for the children.
Arts and crafts activity: Get someone from your community that knows the ropes on scrap-booking or mosaic. The children will not only learn a new skill but they will have loads of fun working together and creating art.
These are just a few examples and each church could go about these activities as they would prefer.
The youth is a very important part of the church, and the future, and you should always try and involve them in as many activities as possible.
