Former soccer player takes a shot at life coaching

Tembisa’s best utility player, Nhlanhla Kubeka, was spotted at the Mehlareng Stadium giving his opponents a hard time.

This football fanatic has played for teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits and Ajax Cape Town.

Kubeka, who is currently playing for the Commoders FC in the Hollywoodbets Tembisa Master League games, said football is in his blood.

Kubeka is one of the legends who is continuing to entertain and inspire young soccer players in the Tembisa community.

According to Kubeka, playing for Kaizer Chiefs was a dream come true.

“I have loved football since I was young. I used to watch every game played by Kaizer Chiefs, especially when the team locked horns with Orlando Pirates. Every time I watched Kaizer Chiefs, my desire to play for the team grew stronger. I told my parents that one day I was going to play for the team,” said Kubeka.

Khalambazo born, Kubeka started playing football in the streets of Daveyton at the age of 7.

He said he was scouted by the Kaizer Chiefs’ kit man, Mr Benneth Mehlomakhulu, for the juniors. It was this opportunity, he believes, that helped him to reach his dreams.

“I enjoyed football with the bigger leagues and eventually I thought it was time for me to retire, so that the younger players will have an opportunity,” said Kubeka.

Life after football

Kubeka studied life coaching and sports management after football.

He is currently working as a professional life coach and devotes his life to helping and coaching those in need, on the road to success and spiritual healing.

“I am a people’s person and love helping. I grew up in a spiritual family so I know people,” he said.

His message to those who want to see themselves in his shoes, Kubeka said, “Realise your dream at an early age and associate yourself with the dream and live it. If you focus on your dream, you will produce positive outcomes.”
