Dladla foundation hosts gala dinner

Dladla foundation covers needy feet with school shoes.

Dladla foundation hosted a Schul Shuz Gala Dinner at Emporor’s Palace on Friday evening June 10.

Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi, Mayors of different municipalities and cooperate sponsors graced the event to support the initiative of providing school shoes for children who cannot afford.

The initiative is aimed at raising money to buy school shoes for needy children in Tembisa schools.

Busani Dladla, the project’s coordinator, said cooperate sponsors were paying R10 000 for a table in the Gala dinner.

“Individuals and families were paying a R1000 for a seat,” said Ms Dladla.

Bekezela Arts exhibitors auctioned their artworks in support of the initiative.

Other items were also auctioned to raise money for the good course.

Ms Dladla said the foundation, established by Mr Sipho Dladla, seeks to address all basic needs of school pupils and the school shoes program is only the binning.

The foundation does everything to do with community development and Ms Dladla said therefore they were able to identify beneficiary schools.

She said there was no criteria in identifying the needy children.

“Schools themselves told us which children needed the shoes,” she said.

She said the event was a success and from the proceeds they were able raise for the night, they will be distributing the 600 pairs of shoes this week.

“We want to thank all sponsors who bought the tables as well as individuals and families,” said Ms Dladla.

This is going to be an annual event for pupils who are in dire need for school shoes.
