New development site unveiled
"All MMCs and the mayor are here for the unveiling of the land where the City of Johannesburg will be building houses for the community."
Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Clr Parks Tau, unveiled a new development in Rabie Ridge on Friday, June 10.
The Wward 80 ANC chairperson and ward councillor candidate, Mr Makgoba Pagadi, said Friday was the kick-start of all community projects that were scheduled to start at the beginning of the new 2016/2017 financial year.
“This is the unveiling of the Kanana Ward 80 development site and the launch of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) project in Mayibuye.
“All MMCs and the mayor are here for the unveiling of the land where the City of Johannesburg will be building houses for the community,” said Mr Pagadi.
The mayor said the day’s plan was to introduce to the community the fact that the City has acquired the land and it is now property of the municipality.
“We thought it important to introduce the developer so that we can say it is not just about the land, it is actually about the development of the site,” said Clr Tau.
The mayor said the developer has been appointed and is dealing with the development process.
He said the development will be discussed with community leaders.
He said the fist thing is to ensure that services are installed to enable the City to establish a proper township with roads to avoid the site becoming an informal settlement.
“Beneficiaries are those in the community. The acquisition of the land has always focused on the locals and surrounding communities,” Clr Tau said.
