Express journo’s pic wins contest
East Rand Caxton journalists went on the sightseeing tour named Instameet
KEMPTON Express journalist Nolwazi Dhlamini won the photography competition held during a recent guided tour of some of Ekurhuleni’s famous landmarks and popular places.
East Rand Caxton journalists went on this sightseeing tour named Instameet, organised by Caxton with Ekurhuleni Metro.
Another Kempton journalist, Alicia Loots, was the runner-up in the competition.

A bus took the pack of journalists and their counterparts from other publications to some of the city’s different towns and townships, including Kempton Park, Boksburg, Tsakane, Wattville and Actonville.
The bus made its first stop at the Ekurhuleni Business Facilitation Network Centre in Kempton Park, where Dumisani Hlatshwayo (regional manager) briefly explained how it helps people with entrepreneurial spirit.
The bus then proceeded to Boksburg and the main sites visited during the entertaining all-day tour included late SACP leader Chris Hani’s home in Dawn Park and his grave, which was recently declared a national heritage site by President Jacob Zuma.
From there the bus headed to Oliver Tambo’s grave and Cultural Precinct in Wattville and Actonville, before travelling to Tsakane, where it whizzed through the township’s popular sites, including the Tsakani Clinic and a restaurant called Bahamas.
Judging the competition, judges had this to say about Dhlamini’s winning entry: “There is great thinking behind this photo and the photographer managed to capture the emotions in the photo in perfect lighting. There is great synergy between the poster and the face of the person in the photo. It makes you wonder what they are thinking and looking at. Great job and great thinking by the photographer.”
