Dance group entertains elderly in Tembisa

Banna Re Mokgobe dance group saw it fit to spend June 16 with old people in Tembisa.

Banna Re Mokgobe dance group entertained the elderly at the Tembisa Old Age Home on June 16.

“We are here to entertain old people with a step (a dance style) and we are also donating money and clothes,” said the event organiser Mr George Malaka.

“We realised that our elders are suffering. We must not take our elderly people to old age homes, only to forget about them,” he said.

Mr Malaka said they wanted to spend the day with the old people.

“They raised us from youth to the men we are today. They must remember we haven’t forgotten about them.

“We are a new group and don’t have much but we hope that the little we are donating today will go towards assisting where it can,” said Mr Malaka.

An elderly woman, Ms Maria Dlamini, said they were very happy to have the dancers visiting them on the day.

“We were told about visitors coming in but we never thought they will entertain us this much,” said the elderly.

The centre’s manager, Ms Corny Mbuqe said she felt honoured that the group saw fit to entertain the old people on the day.

“We do have other activities at the facility but entertainment is rare. I appreciate the donation too,” said Ms Mbuqe.
