Fundraiser for terminally ill Limpopo girl (3)
The best hope for Imke’s survival would be receiving the required surgery in the United States or in Australia

A fundraising evening for a terminally ill Limpopo girl will be held at The Rock Restaurant at Glen Eagle Estate in Glen Marais on Saturday evening, July 2.
The evening has been organised by Pink Chicks Cancer support Foundation to help raise funds for Imke Geldenhuys (3) of Limpopo to go to Australia for life-saving treatment.
Clint from Clint & Co will look after the entertainment. Tickets cost R150 and include a Portuguese style half chicken meal. The evening will start at 5pm.
For tickets, email Laurika@pinkchicks.co.za or call her on 074-192-7792.
Here is Imke’s story as told by her daddy, Darius.
My name is Darius Geldenhuys and my wife’s name is Ilona. We live in the Limpopo province of South Africa and are the parents of three-year old Imke Geldenhuys, and three-month-old identical twins, Anebelle & Zielke, and we need your urgent support.
On the 2nd of February 2016, Imke was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma. A large growth mass was found above her left kidney, arising from the left suprarenal fossa, measuring 10x8x11cm in size. Unfortunately, the growth has also spread to her bone marrow.
After many sessions of chemotherapy, further CT scans were conducted, and a recent scan (15 April 2016) indicated a large, partially calcified mass in the left suprarenal region, measuring 5.5×2.7×2.9cm in size. The scan confirmed that the growth had miraculously shrunk and we were extremely thankful for this good news.
The next step for Imke was a scheduled surgery on the 30th of May 2016 to remove the growth, followed by a bone marrow transplant (BMT). Unfortunately, the treating Oncologist has told us there is no proven evidence of a successful Neuroblastoma High Risk stage 4 BMT in South Africa, and the overall survival rate is 0%.
Since receiving this devastating news, we have spent night and day doing research and have found that the best hope for Imke’s survival would be receiving the required surgery in the United States or in Australia and even more importantly, the treatment afterwards that is not available in South Africa.
We have not asked for any money before this, but now we urgently need financial support to save Imke’s life. A cancer centre in Australia has demonstrated proven evidence of survivors with their advanced Immunotherapy treatment. We believe that they have the experience and this has given us hope for Imke.
If you feel urged in your heart to contribute to help saving Imke’s life and giving her a better chance of survival, please donate.
