Soup and blankets for children

The collected winter items were handed over to the welfare on Saturday June 25 in Tembisa

NON-Profit organisation Mentoring Empowering and Loving Others (MELO) Foundation partnered with Kyaithata.org, also an NPO, in hosting a soup and blanket drive for the children at Tembisa Child Welfare.

The collected winter items were handed over to the welfare organisation on Saturday, June 25 in Tembisa.

Donations included blankets, warm clothing and plenty of oranges.

MELO Foundation and Kempton EXPRESS journalist, Tumelo ‘Melo’ Mthethwa, and Lerato Matshaba, founder of Kya Ithata.org, thanked all individuals and companies who donated to the cause.

“We’d like to give our extended gratitude to Arwyp, Roots Butchery and Royalty Projects for all their contributions that played a major role in making the day a success,” said Mthethwa.

“We’d also like to thank all our friends and families for coming on the day to cook for the kids and play with them,” added Matshaba.

The kids were treated to soup, their faces were painted and they jumped on the jumping castle sponsored by Royalty Projects.

Tembisa Child Welfare looks after more than 85 children from newborns upwards and is responsible for feeding, clothing and giving them love.

“Let us not stop spreading love to these children and others who are in need of it. We urge businesses and individuals to support our future endeavours as we propose to make a difference, and touch lives through mentoring, empowering and loving others,” Mthethwa emphasised.
