Driver entrapped in accident on R21 near Pomona
Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life to free the man
Three people were injured on Saturday morning following a two-vehicle collision on the R21 neat the Pomona exit.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found that two vehicles had been involved in the incident. One car was found in the fast lane of the highway while the second was on the opposite side, lying on the embankment, Russel Meiring of ER24 said.
When paramedics inspected the vehicle on the embankment, they found three occupants inside. The driver was trapped.
Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life to free the man before treatment could continue.
Once freed, paramedics treated all three patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
