Soup day for the homeless on Mandela Day

They aim to hand out 500 bowls of soup and bread to the homeless

A group of 14 women from various companies at OR Tambo International Airport gave their 67 minutes for Mandela Day on Monday by handing out soup to the homeless people on CR Swart Drive.

The initiative, named Airport Women, was started by Neo More and funds were raised between the women to buy ingredients for the soup as well as bread and oranges.

“We hope this could become a sustainable effort and that we can get more companies involved to help us give back to the community who needs it the most,” said More.

Their aim is to hand out 500 bowls of soup and bread to the homeless.

“We feel strongly about the fact that if you have something to give, give it. It is all about sharing and helping out those in dire need. A big thanks goes out to Mandondo Mngomezulu who helped us get people off the street and have a nice warm meal.”
