Sue Nkosi Foundation collects sanitary pads for girls

All proceeds made from the seminar will be donated to the Sue Nkosi Foundation and to Push-Her.

THE Sue Nkosi Foundation (SNF) held a motivational seminar to collect sanitary pads and other goods for underprivileged girls and hosted a breakfast in partnership with Push-Her on July 2 at the Premier Hotel OR Tambo.

Push-Her is a health and nutritional organisation that is run by Izette du Toit, a personal trainer.

Since its inception in August last year, SNF has been donating sanitary pads and other basic necessities to Mayibuye Primary School in Tembisa on a monthly basis.

“Even though we still rely on donations made via social media and word of mouth, we are also proud to say that we have had some sponsorships from various organisations like Aria Technologies, Bath Bakery and Push-Her,” said founder Sue Ally-Nkosi.

Guests and contributors who attended the breakfast were treated to inspirational and motivational talks on mind, body and soul.

Anita Wepenaar, who is a soft skills facilitator and studied psychology, spoke about women empowering themselves with their minds, self love, going through the stages of grief and normal day-to-day things that women go through.

Du Toit discussed eating habits, the pros and the cons of eating too much or too little and how you can start from the beginning living a healthy nutritional lifestyle and how this all ties up with the mind.

Nkosi closed the event by discussing what the foundation does, what the girls are exposed to and how members of society can make a change in the lives of the affected girls.

“We need for the girls to be the catalyst of change within their environments, and how easy it is for these young girls to fall prey to older males and to also educate the boy child as well.”

The speakers made sure that they all linked their topics and ended the seminar with a clearer view on how the mind needs to speak to the body and the soul which makes us whole and able to function.

“We would like to thank Leah Ndlovu and Sefton Cramer who allowed us to host our event at the luxurious Premier Hotel OR Tambo, which was a bonus because of it’s central location. This is an initiative close to my heart and I have since been collaborating very closely with the Push-Her team on numerous events and we are currently concluding our sock collection for Mandela Day. We need to help our future leaders become confident and break the cycle of disempowerment from a young age. Our children need to know their value and worth.”

All proceeds made from the seminar will be donated to the Sue Nkosi Foundation and to Push-Her.
