Community builder receives lease
In total, more than 61 hopeful business owners have received 30-year leases from the mayor.
From the dusty streets of Ivory Park to honouring an iconic statesman in London, Richard Manheart Hlatshwayo’s story inspires many of the local youngsters who have given up when things did not go their way.
“What a sigh of relief. I am glad that today I’m one of the people receiving a 30-year lease from the City of Johannesburg’s mayor, Clr Parks Tau,” said Mr Hlatshwayo.

Mr Hlatshwayo wrote a lot of local dramas and was a member of a local Youth Development Theatre project which received contracts from the local municipality to develop plays that talk about the importance of saving water. The play Masakhane was aimed at encouraging the community to pay the council for services.
Mr Hlatshwayo also worked for organisations such as the Midrand Child and Family Care Association and the defunct Ivory Park Career Guidance Centre, as a youth officer.
He was also the recipient of an award as community builder for the youth.
He holds a diploma in Youth Leadership which he obtained from the University of South Africa.
Mr Hlatshwayo now runs a one-stop car dealership business at Bambanani Industrial Area in Ivory Park.
