Cancer claims wall of fire daredevil (60)

The couple lived in Mosselbaai since 2007

A former daredevil of Kempton Park, Johann Beher (60), has died of pancreatic cancer in Cape Town on July 7.

Behr became known in the city many years ago for his wall of fire shows where he was tied to the front of car which then drove through a fire. He did not wear any protective clothing during these shows.

His wife, Nataly, said he also pulled trucks, aircraft and buses with his teeth and hair. He also held on to motorcycles preventing them from pulling away.

From 1982 to 1988 he was the South African drag racing champion.

“My husband was a unique and humble person. He was a huge man with a small heart. God has now saved him from his pain. I miss my rough diamond and pearl.”

He also leaves behind his children, Renette, Jacques and Johann, as well as five grandchildren.

The couple lived in Mosselbaai since 2007.
