“Today (Wednesday) I visited the residents of Tembisa who were so tragically affected by the tornado that swept through the region. To help families in need after the tornado I have raised a R100 000 donation which the DA will pay over to a non-profit organisation in the area to assist residents.

“I was heartbroken to see homes and lives destroyed and families without roofs over their heads. The need for decent housing in Ekurhuleni is highlighted by this tragedy,” Cachalia said.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have opened their hearts and donated to ensure that the people of Tembisa are provided with some relief. The DA is committed to bringing change to Ekurhuleni, and in the face of tragedy, relief to these families is the least we can do.”
