Baby born with molars surprises family

"The doctor confirmed that the boy was born with the teeth and there was nothing wrong with him."

A baby born in Tembisa surprised his family when they realised he was born with molars.

The baby’s aunt, Betty Schriefl, said the family was shocked when on July 9 they discovered that Buhlale Mabusela already had back teeth at the time of his birth.

On July 10, Buhlale was taken for a check up.

“The doctor confirmed that the boy was born with the teeth and there was nothing wrong with him,” said Ms Schriefl.

“I was playing with him and while he was laughing I noticed a white thing in his mouth. I tried to wipe it off and it couldn’t wipe off.”

Ms Schriefl said she took a teaspoon and tapped it on the thing and she realised it was a tooth.

When she told the news to the baby’s parents, Boitomelo Mogole and Thabo Mabusela, they were shocked and rushed the baby to the doctor first thing in the morning.

The family said they expected a child to grow teeth much later.

“Buhlale has two molars at the top and one molar at the bottom. Two teeth have just grown in the front. At three months, Buhlale already has five teeth,” said Ms Betty Schriefl.

The boy’s granny, Ms Sinah Mabusela, jokingly said maybe this is the end of the world.

“Babies are born with teeth. Is he not an alien?” she joked.

Aunt Betty said for her this was not much of a shock because her son was born in 1996 with front teeth.

“It scared me when it happened to my son and I called the Tembisan then too,” she said.

“Maybe it is in the family’s genes. My boy is fine and I consider him a genius.”

Buhlale Mabusela is said to be a happy and an active child.

He has earned himself a nickname in the family, he is called “Mazinyao Dot Com”.
