Women jet off for well-deserved holiday

The trip was undertaken to celebrate Women's Month in August.

Twenty four businesswomen from the Ivory Park Taxi Association’s (IPTA) Women’s League took off for Cape Town on August 5.

The trip was undertaken to celebrate Women’s Month in August.

“The all expenses paid trip, paid for by IPTA executive and our association’s chairman Mr Johannes Mkhonza, is because we believe a woman’s place is in business not in the kitchen,” said Ms Cookie Lukhele.

She said, as women, they have numerous responsibilities at home and in business, and therefore need the time away.

Ms Lukhele said all the women on the trip are taxi owners in their own right.

“We are very excited about the trip; for some of us it our first time flying.”

She said what is amazing is that the trip was initiated and made possible by male colleagues in the association as their gesture to observe Women’s Month.

“We want other taxi associations to follow this example and to not suppress women colleagues in the business,” said Ms Lukhele.
