Youth sleepout for the homeless

Parents are more than welcome to join in, even if it is just for a few hours

SOME youngsters will spend a “night on the street” on Friday, August 26, to feel what it is like not to have a warm bed to sleep in or a roof over their heads, to keep out the wind and rain at night.

For young people to appreciate what they have and to say thank you to God, the youth sleep out will take place at Gateway Presbyterian Church, on Dann Road.

The group will also be at Glen Acres Shopping Centre on the Saturday, until 5pm, to collect non-perishable foods, clothing and all unwanted household goods.

These goods will be distributed to the homeless and the tornado victims of Tembisa.

The organisers, Brenda Smit, Malcolm Taylor and youth pastor Brendan, from the church, would like to invite all the young people in the community to join them on the Friday night and Saturday.

Parents are more than welcome to join in, even if it is just for a few hours.

Bring your warm blankets, teddies and warm water bottles to keep you warm. Also bring something to eat and drink for the night.

To confirm if you will be joining them, call Past Brendan on 076-051-1110, Brenda on 062-150-2712 or Malcolm on 076-701-1292.
