POLICE are investigating four counts of attempted murder after a gunman opened fire at a Wolf Street pub in Kempton Park.
The incident took place between Thursday night (October 6) and about 2am the next morning, at Innocent Pub and Grill in the CBD.
One of the victims, a 31-year old male, found himself in the centre of the bloody scene after he tried to help a woman from being beaten at the pub.
He was shot six times after blocking the gunman from hitting a woman with a beer bottle.

According to the victim, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of being victimised, the gunman had allegedly become angry after he saw the woman speaking to the victim.
The gunman and the woman had allegedly been hanging out at the pub, along with the woman’s cousin, and he had bought the women drinks.
“I got to the pub at about 11pm (Thursday) to buy some food. While there, two female cousins, one of whom I recognise from around the neighbourhood, were sitting with a man who was buying them drinks,” the victim said, while lying in his hospital bed.
Little did the women know that the man buying them drinks would soon shoot at them, along with two other innocent people.
“A while later I saw the women get up to leave and as one of them saw me, she came towards my direction to greet me. We chatted for a short while before the shooter saw us together.”
The shooter was allegedly upset that the woman and her cousin had refused to leave with him, and was now instead chatting to another man.
He later confronted the woman and an argument broke out.
“The shooter poured beer on the woman and then tried to hit her with the bottle. I intervened and the shooter started punching me. We got into a fist fight that was eventually broken off by the bouncer.”
The victim then helped the bouncer escort the shooter out of the club.
“After going back inside, a friend of the shooter’s came and apologised to us. He also warned us that his friend had done this before and he hoped he wasn’t getting his gun from the car.”
After letting time pass to let the coast become clear, the victim decided to leave the pub because he had to wake up early for work the next morning.
He went downstairs to his motorbike, followed by the two women who apologised to him about the incident.
“As I got onto my bike, I saw the girls’ faces change as if they had seen something. They mumbled something under their breaths before I turned around and saw the shooter approaching us with a gun in his hands.
“As I tried to get off the bike and run, he fired two shots at me, hitting me in my lower body. I ran back into the pub and up. As I dragged myself up the stairs, he followed and shot me two more times in my right thigh.”
The bouncer once again intervened, and he too was shot in the stomach and hand. By this time the cousins had also run back inside. The gunman shot the older cousin twice – in the upper and lower back.
The younger cousin managed to block a bullet aimed at her head, which luckily only grazed her arm and side of her head.
“By this time I was trying to crawl my way into the pub. He came back for me and shot yet again in my other leg. Luckily, the gun them jammed and he walked out.”
By this time there was chaos in the club; people were jumping out of windows and causing a stampede, trying to escape the commotion.
The man was taken to Arwyp Hospital where he is currently being treated. The bouncer and the two cousins were taken to Tembisa Hospital.
The older cousin, who was shot twice, is allegedly in a critical condition, while her younger cousin has since been discharged.
The gunman is still on the run.
