ON Wednesday, October 12, The Lord’s House in Birchleigh North was burgled and all the church’s sound equipment and instruments stolen.
The church is now making an appeal to businesses and the community to assist them with monetary donations or second-hand equipment, as they don’t have funds set aside to replace the stolen property.
“Our focus is on outreach programmes and our church members fall within the lower income group. We bought the equipment second hand and some of it was donated,” said Lazarus Naidoo, worship leader at the church.

Naidoo said stolen equipment included a drum kit, keyboard and the entire PA system. “They managed to tear down a roller door as well as a steel door to gain access to the church,” he explained.
This was the second break-in at the church; the first was in May this year.
A case of business break-in is being investigated by Norkem Park SAPS. Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said the stolen equipment was worth around R100 000.
“The gardener alerted a church member about the break-in when he arrived at the church on the 13th at about 8:30am. Entry was through the garage door and burglar doors were forcefully opened,” explained Molokomme.
According to Naidoo, the robbers stripped the entire church stage and left nothing in sight. “We are hoping someone will see the story and help us either to trace our equipment or assist us in replacing it,” he said.
At this stage no arrests have been made and investigations continue.
