Quick-thinking saves victim

"He looked through the window and saw four unknown men who were breaking the door to his house."

A Lekaneng Section home owner scared criminals off his property by blowing a whistle.
Captain Neldah Sekgobela said on November 8 the 43-year-old home owner was asleep in his house when he heard a noise outside.
“He looked through the window and saw four unknown men who were breaking the door to his house.
“The victim blew his whistle and the neighbours responded,” said Captain Sekgobela.
Capt Sekgobela said one of the neighbours blocked the suspects’ silver Toyota Verso with his car.
“The suspects noticed that their vehicle had no way to pass through. They then left it there and ran into the bushes towards the Ebuhleni Golf Course on foot.”
“The police were summoned to the scene and the vehicle was towed to Van Ryn Deep, while the police investigations continue,” Capt Sekgobela said.
Captain Sekgobela said the management of the Tembisa South SAPS is still encouraging members of the community to use the whistles as a tool to fight crime and thanked the neighbours who acted bravely after noticing that their neighbour was facing a difficult situation.
