Woman dies from stab wound after confrontation at Olifantsfontein station

"On arriving at the hospital, police officers were shown the body of the woman."

A 26-year-old woman died in hospital after sustaining a stab wound to the chest.

Constable Patricia Mgijima said the SAPS were notified about woman’s death when they arrived at Tembisa Hospital.

“On arriving at the hospital, police officers were shown the body of the woman.

“It was alleged by a witness that the woman was travelling from work when she was confronted by the suspect at the Olifantsfontein train station. It is believed the suspect wanted to resolve a domestic dispute with the victim,” said Const Mgijima.

Const Mgijima said it was alleged that an argument ensued and the suspect stabbed the victim.

“The woman was rushed to hospital where she later died. The suspect was also brought to the hospital in an ambulance with a stab wound to the neck,” said Const Mgijima.

Constable Mgijima said the suspect was arrested and is still in hospital under police guard.
