AN armed robber ended up in hospital on Tuesday after being assaulted by people waiting at the taxi rank at Birch Acres Mall.
Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, said the victim was attacked by three armed suspects around 6am. One of the suspects hit the victim on the head with a stone and he fell down.
They robbed him of his cellphone and about R2 000 and left.
“The victim shouted for help from people who were at Birch Acres Mall Taxi Rank. They responded and one suspect was arrested by the community,” Molokomme said.
Upon arrival of the police at the scene the suspect was found to have been assaulted. He was taken to hospital under police guard.
