Thief strikes at Maranatha Church coffee shop

The theft occurred on Tuesday last week

NO arrests have been made since a theft at a Glen Marais church coffee shop on Tuesday last week.

The Kempton SAPS’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said they are investigating a case of theft after the Maranatha Church coffee shop was broken into.

A man driving a van was caught on camera loading two gas cylinders into his vehicle.

According to a representative from Maranatha, one of the managers from the coffee shop noticed that the two gas cylinders were missing and the police were called.

“The gas cylinders were outside at the back of the coffee shop, so the thief did not have to break into the shop itself,” the representative confirmed.

Upon viewing the CCTV footage, a man driving a blue Opel Corsa bakkie was seen loading the cylinders onto the car.

“At this stage the police are tracing the motor vehicle and hope that the culprits will be brought to book soon,” Mtshali said.
