Tembisa philanthropist laid to rest
"We have lost a daughter, a friend, a community builder and a motivational speaker."
One of the well-known philanthropists and the founder of the Children and Family Support Development Project in Tembisa, Mrs Christine Nomalizwe Tshabalala was buried in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on Sunday.
Mrs Tshabalala passed on after a short illness at Tembisa Hospital on Wednesday, January 17.
When addressing mourners at the Kings and Queens Funeral Parlour Hall on Sunday, her uncle Mr Veni Dube said Mrs Tshabalala was a shining light to the family and the people of Bulawayo.
“We have lost a daughter, a friend, a community builder and a motivational speaker. Even though she is no longer with us, we know that her spirit will continue to inspire entrepreneurs here in Zimbabwe and South Africa,” he said.
Her husband, former SABC newsreader and current affairs presenter and also former Tembisan News Editor Mr Victor Mukwevho Ne-vumbani, said he has lost a wife, a friend and a dedicated mother.
“Christine was a loving mother, a businesswoman and only God knows why she left us so soon. May her soul rest in peace until we meet again before the Almighty,” he said.
Her son Daniel Tshabalala, who looked stunned and shocked, said his mother was his role model.
He added that even though he is based in Manchester in Britain, his mother used to call him every morning to check on him and the family.
“Mum, you were my friend, my mentor and the soul behind my being. May your soul rest in peace, ” he said.
She is survived by her husband, two sons and five grandchildren.
