Dagga plants found growing at Van Riebeeck Park house

The suspect will face charges of manufacturing and planting dagga

A 31-year-old Van Riebeeck Park resident was arrested on Monday morning at 8am for allegedly cultivating dagga at his house on Langeberg Street.

Capt Lesibane Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, said they received a tip off from the public.

“Members responded to the complaint and arrested a male suspect for manufacturing and cultivation of dagga with an estimated value of R1 000.”

The suspect will face charges, of manufacturing and planting dagga, in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

Norkem Park SAPS, with the help of other law enforcement agencies, made seven arrests at the weekend.

The arrests were effected during stop and searches and tracing of wanted suspects.

“The arrested suspects are facing charges ranging from possession of dagga, assault under domestic violence, car theft and hijacking and one suspect for manufacturing and cultivating of dagga,” Molokomme said.
