Rabie Ridge SAPS arrested a man for allegedly running a counterfeit operation at Mayibuye on Friday last week.
According to Rabie Ridge SAPS Communication Officer, Captain Matsobane Masela, the police received a tip-off from members of the community about the manufacturing of counterfeit DVDs and CDs at a house in Mayibuye.
“On their arrival, the police found a young man who admitted that he runs a counterfeit operation.
“The same place is allegedly supplying illegal businesses around Mayibuye and Tembisa, where we have a problem with counterfeit CDs and DVDs. The suspect was arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge SAPS on charges related to counterfeit goods and illegal copyright,” said Captain Masela.
Capt Masela reminded the community that dealing and selling of illegal counterfeit goods is an offence.
