Informer helps cops

Informant makes the difference.

On February 14 Tembisa SAPS arrested a man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said after the SAPS members received information from a member of the community they went to a house in Ecaleni section.

“They found a 46-year-old man who fitted the description of their informer. On searching his room, a pistol was found hidden on top of the wardrobe,” said Captain Ralidzhivha.

“The 46-year-old man failed to produce the license for the firearm. Its serial number was filed off. The firearm had one magazine and three rounds of live ammunition.”

He said the suspect will soon appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“The Tembisa police would like to thank members of the community who are giving us information.

“We further encourage community members to come and be part of informers. Let us make a difference in our area.”

Captain Ralidzhivha said SAPS promises not to make the names of informers known.
