TWO constable detectives of Kempton Park SAPS have been busted by the Hawks on Wednesday morning for alleged corruption.
Capt Ndivhuwo Mulamu, spokesman for the Hawks, said the suspects were nailed in an entrapment operation conducted by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Unit in Germiston.
Consts Tshepo Malose Langa (32) and Noko David Tefu (40) briefly appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon. They were remanded in custody until today for a formal bail application, said Mulamu.

“It is alleged that in September 2016, both detective constables, aged 32 and 40, demanded money from a witness on a theft case they were investigating for him not to be arrested. They implied it was an instruction from the magistrate,” Mulamu said.
He said R1 500 was deposited at a money market account by the witness’s mother and later withdrawn by a suspect in another case, who was allegedly ordered by the detectives. They then demanded an extra R2 000 from the witness.
“The Hawks conducted an entrapment operation and arrested both the detectives for corruption. They will make a brief appearance before Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon,” Mulamu added.
