Neighbours alerted police because of the noise they had heard coming from the house at about 7am on Sunday morning.
Police arrived, searched the premises and found the mother’s body in the swimming pool.
Upon further investigation, the police discovered that Monamudi had left in her mother’s car, a Mini Cooper, with her four-year-old son. The car was traced to Glen Acres Shopping Centre and she was arrested.
According to a source, the mother was a former advocate who had been involved in an accident which left her unable to work.
The case was postponed to March 29 for a bail application and the accused had been remanded in custody.
