Tenants were robbed and assaulted on March 4 in Winnie Mandela Zone 2.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said a 25-year-old man was sleeping in his room at about 2am when four men broke down his door and entered.
“One remained at the door as the lookout. Two men had firearms and one had an iron rod.
“They demanded money and robbed the man of his computer, cash and two cellular phones,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
“After they took the items, the robbers went to another room in the same yard. They broke down the door of a 35-year-old woman and demanded money. They assaulted her 36-year-old husband. The husband was assaulted with an iron rod on both his hands and legs. She was robbed of a plasma television, two cellular phones and cash.
“The woman’s husband was later taken to Tembisa Hospital for treatment.”
Police are appealing to members of the community to come forward with information.
