The Ivory Park SAPS is appealing for any member of the public with information regarding a murder, during which a 26-year old man was shot four times in the head, to please come forward.
Members of the Ivory Park SAPS sector policing were called to the scene after being alerted by passers-by during the early hours of Tuesday morning last week.
The Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, said upon arrival at the scene the police officers found the body of a man, who was later identified as one of the locals, with four bullet wounds to the head and one to the right hand.
“Nothing has been taken from the victim. His belongings, such as money, cellular phone and watch, were found on his body.
“During some preliminary investigations it emerged that one witness heard shots fired not far from her shack late at night, but fear prevented her from enquiring as to what was happening. The witness was woken up by the noise of people gathering around the dead body in the morning,” added Capt Matimulane.
Captain Matimulane said the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage and the police are calling for assistance from the public.
The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Ngcobo, who rushed to the scene of the murder as soon as he learnt about it, called on members of the public to assist by coming forward with information.
“Evidence has shown time and again that whenever the community works closely with the police, most of the criminal activities within that area are solved quickly,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
