A man (30) hiding an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on his waist was arrested by Norkem Park SAPS on Saturday, March 26.
He was one of 33 suspects arrested by Norkem Park SAPS from March 24 to 29.
“The arrested suspects are facing charges such as possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, possession of suspected drugs, possession of dagga, shoplifting, assault, murder, driving under the influence of liquor, reckless and negligent driving, malicious damage to property and housebreaking and theft,” said Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the Norkem Park SAPS.
The male suspect arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was stopped on Munii Street in Birch Acres.
“The officers stopped the suspect walking along the said street. They had a suspicion the man was hiding something on his waist. Upon searching him they found a 9mm with no serial number, three live rounds of ammunition and a magazine.”
Upon further investigation it was found that the gun was reported stolen at Tembisa South SAPS in December last year.
