The security guard and co-owner of Technogold Jewellers are both in a stable condition in hospital after being wounded in an armed robbery at the store in Festival Mall this afternoon.
This is according to Lee-Anne Leathley, marketing manager at the mall.
In a statement issued by her this evening, she said five armed suspects entered the jewellery store just before 2pm.
“Warning shots were fired inside the store and the co-owner was unfortunately injured but she is stable. The suspects escaped from the store.
“Mall security attempted to stop the perpetrators from exiting at the boom gates. A security guard was wounded but remains in a stable condition,” Leathley added.
She said a white Toyota Etios was used as the getaway vehicle.
“Centre management has video footage of the incident and are working closely with the police to bring the perpetrators to book. The centre management team, security staff and police force responded immediately to the incident and ER24 was called to counsel the surrounding on-lookers and ensure everyone involved were given the necessary trauma counselling.”
