Members of the community in Ward 80, under the leadership of Clr Makgoba Pahadi, met at the Kanana sports grounds on Wednesday last week to discuss concerns about crime in the area.
They were joined by members from Tembisa Extension 11, who are also concerned about crime in their area.
In the past months, they have been experiencing a number of house burglaries and thefts.
Among the people who attended the meeting were Community Police Forum (CPF) members and Constable Selotolwa, from the Rabie Ridge SAPS, who is a sector manager in Kanana extensions four and five and the surrounding area.
”Crime has no demarcation,” said Clr Pahadi.
Other issues discussed at the meeting were drugs, which they claim are destroying their children and contributing to crime.
Residents interested in joining the CPF must note that their fingerprints will be taken and a workshop will be held to inform these members of how to curb crime.
Ext 11 Neighbours Forum has also planned a meeting for May 6 at the Blue and White tent church, starting at 9am to discuss the introduction of Memeza Alarms at their homes.
