Various Kempton Park suburbs had their water supply interrupted this morning due to a major pipe burst.
Councillor Jaco Terblanche said a major pipeline on the corner of Long and Casuarina streets in the CBD burst between 2am and 3am.
According to the Ekurhuleni metro water supply should be restored by 1pm. Terblanche doubted that and said he only expected water to be restored later this afternoon.
Areas affected include Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park ext 2, 3 and 4, Glen Marais, Aston Manor and Nimrod Park.
Four water tankers have been dispatched to the affected areas until water is restored.
Tankers are stationed at Allen Park, Laerskool Kreft and Glen Acres Spar.
