Ongoing efforts by the Ivory Park SAPS detectives to bring wanted suspects to justice yielded positive results on Wednesday last week when a man wanted for a rape allegedly committed in 2011 was re-arrested.
Ivory Park SAPS communication officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, said as part of its intensive investigation the tracing team tasked with finding some of Ivory Park’s most wanted managed to locate a suspect in Kaalfontein six years after he absconded in 2012 when he was supposed to go on trial for rape.
“The suspect was initially arrested in Ivory Park and was granted bail. The suspect had allegedly raped a minor who was nine years at the time. He was renting a room at the home of the victim and complainant at the time the rape was allegedly committed,” said Captain Matimulane.
“It may have taken time to catch up with him, but we are glad that the long arm of the law has finally caught up with this man,” said Ivory Park Station Commander Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo.
