EIGHT-year-old model and learner at Curro Serengeti, Nikita Swartz did it again by taking home the title of Miss Petite South Africa on April 8.
The pageant was held in Pretoria over five days. Its purpose is to empower young South African girls and teenagers from all walks of life to develop the confidence they need to achieve their personal best.
“During her months as a finalist, Nikita did charity work, where she collected money for the Mimi Foundation to be able to distribute Mimi pads to less fortunate girls,” said her mother Chantal.
Nikita also raised money to buy Deskbags from the Deskbag Foundation. A Deskbag is an eco-friendly schoolbag that converts into a desk.
She raised the money by putting up stalls at craft markets and asking people to donate towards her campaign.
She personally distributed the products to a local welfare home in her community. Her campaign theme was ‘Keep a child in school’.
As the saying goes, dynamite comes in small packages. Nikita is part of many charities and has numerous titles behind her name.
Last year she won the Junior Queen Africa Overall title, gaining the highest scores out of all contestants aged 3 to 12 years old in the interview, ramp and photogenic categories.
In her year of reign, Nikita has become part of an amazing team called PITT Boxes, helping families in need by collecting food, clothing and other essentials for them. She will continue with her fund-raising campaign ‘Keep a child in school’ too.
She also has her own pageant, called Miss Heart of Gold, through which she raises funds for children with cancer.
“Nikita and we as her parents are so grateful that she is able to carry the titles of Miss Petite South Africa and Miss Petite Face of South Africa 2017. She would not have been able to do this on her own and we would like to thank the whole Pageants SA team, her Model Manifest coach, Angie Bryant, family, friends and everyone who was and is a part of her journey. We are forever grateful,” Chantal said.
