Elderly woman attacked in her Edleen home has died

Molokomme said police investigations were ongoing

THE 81-year-old Edleen woman, who sustained serious head injuries during a home invasion on Monday afternoon, has died in hospital on Wednesday.

Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, confirmed she died around 2pm.

Her 85-year-old husband is still being treated in hospital and has undergone an operation.

The couple was brutally attacked in their Okkerneut Street home around 5pm on Monday.

The man was attacked outside his home when he went to check if a garage door was locked. His wife, who tried to help him, was then also attacked.

Previous information published that the garage and house were interlinked, is not true.

The family is not yet ready to speak to the media.
