“As always, child welfare actively participates in raising awareness against the abuse of children. To that end, a march has been arranged for June 1 this year,” Child Welfare Kempton said in a statement.
All community sectors, including schools, religious organisations, NGOs, government and the private sector, are invited to join the awareness campaign.
Some fun activities have also been lined up following the march, which include performances by learners from some of the local schools and local artist Neo Entertainment, to keep everyone on their feet with music.
People joining the march will meet at the welfare’s offices at 19 Maxwell Street and will move around Kempton CBD.
The event will run from 9am until 2pm.
It will start at the child welfare offices at 19 Maxwell Street.
CPW is commemorated nationally every year to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.
Started in 1997, the campaign also aims to mobilise all sectors of society and communities in an effort to ensure care and protection for children.
