Young model needs help to realise her dreams
The family needs sponsors for Tyra’s agent to escort her to New York
TYRA Black (10), a young and aspiring model, has won an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to compete at the International Models and Talents Association competition (IMTA) in July.
She won the prize after competing in the regional model search recently and came out tops in the seven to 12 age group for ramp modelling. She will be judged by more than 300 agents across the world.
In her six years of modelling at Figures modelling school, Tyra has won the titles of Miss Face SA and Figures Model of the Year 2016.
“There is only one problem we are facing – Tyra is under age and cannot travel alone,” said her mother, Doris.
“Due to medical reasons I unfortunately cannot accompany Tyra and asked her modelling agent, Mona Swanepoel, to escort her.”
The prize only covers Tyra’s travel expenses.

The family is calling on the community to help them with any donations towards Mona’s travel.
“Without someone accompanying Tyra she won’t be able to go to New York. We trust Mona and know that she only has Tyra’s interest at heart and has the insight because she also once competed in the IMTAs.”
Travel costs for Mona will be an estimated R56 000.
Tyra is described as a highly motivated young girl by her family and believes she will be the next Tyra Banks.
Tyra’s flight leaves on July 6.
