Ivory Park shop owner shot and killed

The victim was shot in the neck and was certified dead at the scene.

Ivory Park SAPS is calling on members of the community with information regarding a brutal murder this past weekend of an Ethiopian shop owner to come forward.

Communications officer Captain Bernard Matimulane said the victim (31) was shot and killed by one of six robbers who attacked him while he was in his shop at Extension 07, Ivory Park, on Saturday night shortly before 10pm.

“The victim was shot in the neck and was certified dead at the scene. An undisclosed amount of cash, a cellular phone, cigarettes and airtime vouchers were taken.

“A witness who chose to remain anonymous told the police that six suspects entered the shop and were seen fighting with the shop owner. A shot was fired and the witness, fearing for his life, ran away from the crime scene.

“He said the men came out of the shop in threes, and were carrying items,” reported Matimulane.
