Skhumba brings his friends to Silverstar

Together with other giants of the comedy industry, the Tembisa-based Hlophe will be treating the audience to proudly South African comedy - at its finest.

Popular comedian Skhumbuzo “Skhumba” Hlophe is heading to Silverstar Casino on June 2 for what promises to be a night of great laughter with a show called Skhumba and Friends.

Together with other giants of the comedy industry, the Tembisa-born Skhumba will be treating the audience to proudly South African comedy at its finest.

Donovan Goliath, David Kau, Simphiwe Shembe and Siya Seya will be joining Skhumba for this epic show.

The comedians will perform all new material that will debut on that night, treating the audience to hours of fresh, side-splitting entertainment.

With the diverse line-up on the night, the show will cater for every kind of comedic taste.

“We are proud to be hosting Skhumba and the other amazing comedians on the line-up,” said Sanele Ntombela from Silverstar.

Skhumba is considered one of the most gifted comedians in the country.

He holds his audiences in the palm of his hands on Kaya FM’s Breakfast Show every Friday morning and on SABC1 during his talk show called #TBTon1.

In 2016, Skhumba’s hard work bagged him four nominations in the Savanna Comic Choice Awards.

Skhumba and his friends will be celebrating comedy in all its forms with the show, so it’s definitely one not to be missed.

The first thing you’ll note with Skhumba’s performance is that his style of comedy has a distinct Kasi feel.

His humour will crack up even the hardest comedy critics.

Skhumba loves telling people that he is an international comedian because he has performed in Witbank.

The other thing you’ll notice about Skhumba’s humour is that it is smart humour.

He observes life and writes jokes about it; hence it has a real-life edge to it.

Skhumba is a regular in areas such as Soweto, Centurion, Tembisa, Mellville, Brooklyn and most clubs in Joburg and Durban.

He hosts monthly comedy sessions at Caprivi Lounge in Tembisa.

Looking at the views expressed about him, one can truly say that he is one of the most gifted comedians in South Africa.

In 2015, he appeared on TV shows like Tandeka’s Diary on SABC1.

The hilarious sitcom has since been re-commissioned for two extra seasons with season two currently airing.

With his 13 appearances at Blacks Only, he’s headlined the show 11 times to date.

Charity

His involvement in charity will see him take to the stage to raise funds for wheelchairs for those in need of them.

Skhumba has rallied all his comic friends to be part of this drive – in a show cheekily called Walk This Way With Skhumba.

The proceeds from this show will go towards buying wheelchairs, which will be distributed to those in need in Gauteng during the month of August – which happens to be Skhumba’s birthday month.
