Young graduate set to help small businesses

Bigger companies sponsor free workshops to grow small businesses.

YOUNG entrepreneurs with big aspirations and expertise are using sponsorship from big companies to give small businesses free guidance.

Mokopane Ledwaba is a marketing consultant, facilitator and managing director of Elephantic Spa, a consultancy and professional marketing company.

Elephantic Spa empowers entrepreneurs and creates a network of intelligent market leaders who are skilled at overcoming the socio-economic challenges that often hinder business growth.

He decided it was time to spread the message and invite more locals to make use of this free service after hosting free workshops with his colleagues in and around Kempton Park, Germiston and Boksburg.

The University of Johannesburg marketing graduate and holder of various business and entrepreneurship certificates said the sessions help small business owners learn how to add maximum value in a limited time, and ensure entrepreneurs walk out with something tangible to implement.

Speaking to Kempton Express, Ledwaba said,“My vision is to inspire the foundation of South African small business that are characterised by efficiency and are value-driven. Our goal is to help 100 businesses to grow by 150 per cent within the next 24 months.”

Ledwaba believes we live in a society where graduating does not ensure employment, and economic conditions are on the decline, making these kinds of interventions crucial.

“Small businesses are also key drivers of the economy but their failure rate is alarming. Hence I chose to challenge the economic status quo and opted to assist entrepreneurs in designing creative communications strategies that give them access to markets, niche penetration, innovation and effective communication,” he added.
