Ivory Park residents received full Road Accident Fund (RAF) services at Ivory Park North Hall on May 20.
RAF Media and Public Relations Officer Ernest Nkuna said car crash victims were assisted with the registering of new claims, settlement of offers, finalisation of rehabilitation support, consolidation of required compliance documents and reporting of alleged misconduct by personal injury attorneys.
“The service called RAF on the Road is a one-stop office that exemplifies the 20-year-old organisation’s flagship outreach campaign and remains a beacon of hope for accident victims and their families, desperately seeking to ease their emotional and financial suffering after a car crash,” said Nkuna.
RAF CEO Dr Eugene Watson told RAF Executive and Board representatives, local councillors and traffic officials, among others, that residents did not necessarily always have to pay taxi fare to come and see the RAF.
“We will come and see you,” he said.
“RAF’s Corporate Social Responsibility Unit showed its service delivery commitment well beyond the day itself after it facilitated minor renovations to the Ivory Park North Hall by painting the venue, fixing the sewerage and ablution facilities the week before the event,” said Nkuna.
“Close to 25 baby car seats were also donated to mothers of newborn babies at Tembisa Hospital the previous Friday.”
Nkuna said the acting MEC for Roads and Transport, Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, expressed her gratitude for the RAF’s presence in the community as it continued providing a critical security net to all road users in the event of a car crash.
“We appreciate that the RAF has chosen to bring this programme to Ivory Park where it is sorely needed,” said Mayathula-Khoza.
“The fund’s contribution towards the delivery of national priorities, sustainable livelihoods of accident survivors, improvement of their health profile and patient outreach programme is an indication that the organisation is providing a vital service.
“The fact that it employs a lot of people to deliver necessary services as it expands its footprint is evidence once again of how seriously it takes its role,” said Mayathula-Khoza.
