Bermuda 5 girls motivated to hold their heads high

Mrs South Africa 2017 finalist Chantel Blignaut and her daughter Miss Pre-Teen Gauteng, Che-Lee visited the home.

On May 3, girls from Bermuda 5 in Glen Marais were inspired and shown love by women who motivated them to believe in themselves and not to give up on their dreams.

The home belongs to Abraham Kriel Childcare, which cares for young girls who are either going through trauma or who have been through trauma in their lives.

Members of Under His Covering organised the event, sought sponsors and invited numerous guests such as a makeup artist to spend the day with the girls and teach them things they can only learn from other women.

The event was graced by the presence of Mrs South Africa 2017 finalist Chantel Blignaut and her daughter Miss Pre-Teen, Cha-Lee Nel, who is also an almost-deaf professional singer signed to Atlantic Records in the United States of America.

Young girls were motivated and inspired. Front row: Gizelle Maritz, Morgan Maritz, Chane Pretorius, and Ché-Lee Nel (Miss Pre-Teen Gauteng). Middle row: Carike Pretorius (director and founder of Under His Covering), Wezzie Mnathalie (from Magico Moments), Angelique Botes (makeup artist). Third row: Rina de Kock (house mother), Petro Cronje (from Magico Moments), Chantel Blignaut (Mrs South Africa 2017 finalist) , Samantha de Beer, Annamarie Heymans and Courtney Heymans.

Carike Pretorius, who is a missionary and the founder and director of Under His Covering, informed EXPRESS that she organised the event because she was only doing what God told her to do.

“We asked the girls what kind of an event they wanted and they asked for something that had to do with role modelling. When approached, Chantel and Che-Lee were very eager, without a doubt, and that’s how this event came about. On that note, I want to thank everyone for the support, from Magico Moments to all the makeup artists who are here to skills the girls, and Function Fanatic for sponsoring us with these delicious platters,” said Pretorius.

Che-Lee shared her life story about how nothing could hold her back because God wanted her to achieve and all she needed to do was to believe. “I lost my hearing in my right ear but because I always wanted to sing I never gave up. Later on I lost 60 per cent in my left ear but I am still here singing and doing what I love to do. I hope to leave the girls with such motivation because we need to learn not to let anything break our spirit, especially because only God knows how far we are meant to reach,” said the very smart Che-Lee.

Chantel Blignaut sat the girls down and shared her life story, which touched the girls and demonstrated that one can indeed start with nothing, and go through all the horrors life can throw at a person but as long as they are willing to fight for what they want and their happiness and believe in the power of God, nothing can stop them.
