Gogos are the pillars of our families

A Birch Acres businesswoman hosted a massive party for several Tembisa gogos at a special Mother’s Month event recently.
The gogos danced and sang songs of praise to God before they were served with a delicious lunch.
They were also showered with gifts.
The host, Zondi Msimango, said, “I was raised by a gogo. Organising this event gave me a way to say, ‘I appreciate everything that you did for me’ and also to say ‘ngiyabonga’ (thank you). They are the pillars of our families as well as our community. We need to take care of them.”
“I grew up like any other girl from the township but my granny was a disciplinarian. She was always there to guide me to maintain order when I was a bit distracted,” she said.
“Today, I am a proud mother and a successful businesswoman who is respected by her community,” she maintains.
Msimango runs a cleaning service company.
