UPDATE: Police do not suspect robbery as Dunblane shooting motive

No arrests have been made and it is unclear how the perpetrators gained access

Police do not believe robbery was the motive for the shooting which took place at the luxury Dunblane Lifestyle and Equestrian Estate in the early hours of June 9.

The incident occurred at about 1.30am on the estate, which is situated on the Marister/Bredell border.

Maj-Gen Poobalan Subbiah, the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster commander, said initial reports suggested three intruders entered the house.

When the home owner, whose name is believed to be Carlos, went to investigate, he was shot. Social media reports suggest Carlos was taken to hospital in a private vehicle, but later died.

Kempton Express Facebook followers expressed their shock since the news broke earlier this morning.

Subbiah said the deceased was in the home with his wife and two children, who are believed to be in their teens.

The wife and two children were unharmed.

Subbiah said a case of murder is being investigated and that a possible motive is known to the police, but it cannot be revealed to the media at this stage.

No arrests have been made and it is unclear how the perpetrators gained access onto the estate or property.

Estate manager Douglas Gultig said the matter was under investigation and he could not give further details at this stage.
